Best Angular Date Pickers in 2026: 9 Libraries Compared
Short answer. Choose NG-ZORRO if you want the broadest free date picker: ranges with presets, time, week, month, quarter and year modes, week numbers and custom day cells, all MIT. Choose Angular Material if your app already uses Material and you need a dependable single date or range picker with typed input. Choose Taiga UI if you need multiple dates, presets or date and time in one control without paying. Choose Kendo UI if your team already licenses it and wants segmented date entry and an adaptive phone layout. Choose CoreUI PRO if your app runs on CoreUI or Bootstrap and you want range presets, side-by-side months and period pickers styled like the rest of your forms.
How we compared
We compared 9 Angular date picker libraries in October 2026, using each vendor’s documentation, API reference and npm package (versions are in the table). Typing a date was tested in each official demo in a headless browser on October 28, 2026. A ❌ means the vendor’s documentation states the gap. When the documentation is silent we write — (no data), which is not a claim that the feature is missing. CoreUI publishes this page; CoreUI’s own ❌ entries come from its complete API reference.

The libraries, one by one
NG-ZORRO DatePicker
NG-ZORRO (ng-zorro-antd 22.1.2, MIT) gives you the most for free. nzMode switches between date, week, month, quarter and year, also inside nz-range-picker, and nzRanges adds preset ranges. nzShowTime adds time in the same popup, nzShowWeekNumber shows week numbers, nzDateRender takes a template for day cells and nzInline renders the calendar without a field. Minimum and maximum dates are set through the nzDisabledDate function, and the range picker shows two months. Since version 22 your app must provide a date adapter (date-fns, native Intl or your own).
Choose it if you want ranges, presets and period pickers without a license fee and the Ant Design look suits your app.
Angular Material Datepicker
Angular Material 22.2.4 (MIT) pairs MatDatepicker with a separate range input and range picker, which also supports a comparison range. You get an inline mat-calendar, a touchUi mode, validation errors for min, max, filter and parse, and adapters for native dates, date-fns, Luxon and Moment. Time is a separate MatTimepicker (since v19) bound to the same value, and month or year pickers are shown in the docs as your own code on top of startView. Time zones are only available through the Luxon adapter.
Choose it if you build on Material and need a solid free single date or range picker.
PrimeNG DatePicker
PrimeNG DatePicker 22.1.4 is feature-rich: selectionMode covers single, multiple (with maxDateCount) and range, showTime adds 12 or 24-hour time with seconds, view turns it into a month or year picker, and numberOfMonths, showWeek, a Today and Clear button bar, date templates and touchUI are built in. For range presets, you add your own buttons through the button bar template. What changed is the license (see below).
Choose it if you qualify for the PrimeUI Community License or already pay for PrimeUI.
Kendo UI for Angular DatePicker
Kendo UI DatePicker (@progress/kendo-angular-dateinputs 25.3.0) has a segmented field: day, month and year are edited as separate parts, with spin buttons and mouse wheel support. DateTimePicker puts date and time tabs in one popup, DateRange uses a multi-view calendar, adaptiveMode switches to an action sheet or full screen on phones, and cell templates cover month, year, decade and century views. Multiple dates work only in the inline Calendar. The docs state: “The Date Inputs do not provide RTL support.”
Choose it if your team already pays for Kendo UI and needs segmented date entry.
Taiga UI InputDate
Taiga UI 5.30.0 (Apache-2.0) uses separate controls for each job: InputDate, InputDateRange with preset periods through [items], InputDateMulti for several dates shown as chips, InputDateTime down to milliseconds, and InputMonth, InputMonthRange and InputYear. The field is a masked input, and the mobile examples offer a native picker, a bottom sheet and a full-screen calendar. The range calendar shows two months side by side; day markers are dots rather than full cell templates.
Choose it if you want multiple dates and date-time in a free library with purpose-built inputs.
ngx-bootstrap Datepicker
ngx-bootstrap 22.0.0 (MIT) offers bsDatepicker and bsDaterangepicker directives in Bootstrap styling. The range picker has quick select ranges and shows two months by default, withTimepicker adds time in the same popup, minMode turns it into a month or year picker and selectWeek selects whole weeks. Today and Clear buttons and week numbers are built in. useUtc only switches between UTC and local time.
Choose it if your Bootstrap app needs a free range picker with presets and time.
ng-bootstrap Datepicker
ng-bootstrap Datepicker 21.0.0 (MIT) works inline or as a popup. The docs are explicit: “The datepicker model is a single date, however you still can implement range selection functionality”, and they show how with dayTemplate. displayMonths, showWeekNumbers, firstDayOfWeek and a custom adapter and formatter are built in. Time comes from the separate NgbTimepicker, and the Calendars page shows Hebrew and Islamic calendars.
Choose it if you want full control over day rendering and do not mind building ranges yourself.
Spartan/ng Date Picker
Spartan/ng (brain 1.8.3, MIT) follows the shadcn model: logic comes from npm, styled code is copied into your project. It has single, range and multiple pickers (hlm-date-picker-multi with minimum and maximum selections), an input variant for typing a date, a month and year picker, dropdown navigation and RTL demos in Arabic and Hebrew. Time is a separate input placed next to the picker.
Choose it if your app already uses Spartan and Tailwind.
CoreUI Date Picker and Date Range Picker
Our own entry. The CoreUI Date Picker and Date Range Picker (@coreui/angular-pro 5.7.39) are CoreUI PRO components: $127 per developer, perpetual, 12 months of updates, renewal at the same price. To be direct: NG-ZORRO gives you ranges, presets and week, month, quarter and year modes for free. What the license buys in CoreUI: ranges presets, calendars for months side by side, selectionType for week, month and year, timepicker, showWeekNumber, firstDayOfWeek, an Intl-based locale, documented RTL with Hebrew and Persian examples, disabledDates and dateFilter, and valid states that match CoreUI forms. Typing a date worked in our demo test.
Where CoreUI loses: no multiple-date mode, no time zone prop, no segmented field, no day-cell template, and no quarter mode in Angular (React and Vue have it). Only a clear button is built in; Today or Confirm buttons go in a footer template.
Choose it if your app is built on CoreUI or Bootstrap and you want date, range and period pickers that look and validate like your other forms. Team prices are on the pricing page.
What changed in 2026
PrimeNG is no longer MIT. Since 22.0.0-rc.1 (June 28, 2026), PrimeNG ships under the PrimeUI License. A key goes into providePrimeNG, and the license text says a missing key “may cause the software to display a license notice”. The free Community License covers organizations under $1M revenue, with fewer than 5 developers, fewer than 10 employees and under $3M in outside funding, excluding the public sector and education, renewed every 12 months. The commercial license is $599 per developer until December 31, 2026 (regular price $799), perpetual with one year of updates and $399 per year to renew; it covers PrimeNG, PrimeReact and PrimeVue. The last MIT release is 21.1.10 (v21-stable, September 9, 2026).
Kendo UI for Angular has no free components. Its FAQ says all components require a trial or commercial license; subscriptions cost $799, $899 or $1,299 per developer per year depending on support.
Spartan/ng reached 1.0 on June 24, 2026, and NG-ZORRO 22 now requires an explicit date adapter.
FAQ
What is the best free Angular date picker?
NG-ZORRO for most apps: it is MIT and includes ranges, presets, time and week, month, quarter and year modes. Taiga UI is the free choice if you need multiple dates, and Angular Material if your app already uses Material.
Which Angular date pickers have range presets?
NG-ZORRO (nzRanges), ngx-bootstrap (ranges), Taiga UI ([items] on InputDateRange) and CoreUI PRO (ranges). In PrimeNG and Kendo UI you build preset buttons yourself in a footer or button bar template.
Can an Angular date picker select multiple dates?
Yes: PrimeNG (selectionMode="multiple"), Taiga UI (InputDateMulti) and Spartan/ng (hlm-date-picker-multi). Kendo UI supports it only in the inline Calendar. The ng-bootstrap docs state that its model is a single date, and CoreUI has no multiple-date mode.
Is PrimeNG still free?
Only under the PrimeUI Community License limits for version 22 and later. Larger teams need a commercial license from $599 per developer, or can stay on PrimeNG 21.1.10, the last MIT release.
Does Kendo UI DatePicker support right-to-left layouts?
No. The Kendo UI for Angular docs state that the Date Inputs do not provide RTL support. NG-ZORRO, Angular Material, PrimeNG, Taiga UI, Spartan/ng and CoreUI document RTL.
