Best Angular Table Components (2026): 8 Data Tables Compared
The best Angular table depends on how much you want built in and whether you can pay. Kendo UI Grid is the most complete: multi-sort, filter rows and menus, editing, pinned and resizable columns, virtualization and CSV, Excel and PDF export, under a paid license. PrimeNG Table comes close, including CSV export, but version 22 moved to the PrimeUI License. The strongest free options are ngx-datatable (tree rows, pinned and resizable columns, virtualization, server mode) and NG-ZORRO Table (filter menus, multi-sort, pinned columns, virtualization). Angular Material Table gives you primitives and leaves filter UI to you. CoreUI Smart Table is the weakest ready-made table in this comparison; for a full grid we point you to CoreUI Data Grid, a separate product.
How we compared
We reviewed 9 Angular table options in October 2026 against a 24-feature data table checklist, using each vendor’s documentation, API reference, published package code and current npm release (versions are in the table). Eight made the table; ng-bootstrap is covered under “Also considered”. A ❌ means the vendor’s documentation states the gap. When the documentation is silent we write — (no data), which is not a claim that the feature is missing. CoreUI publishes this page; CoreUI’s own ❌ entries come from its API reference and package code.

The libraries, one by one
Kendo UI Grid
Kendo UI Grid 25.3.0 has nearly every feature in the table: sortable with a multiple mode, filter rows and filter menus, a search box in the toolbar, paging with page sizes, remote and OData data, checkbox and single selection, detail templates, locked and sticky columns, resizing, a column menu, a stacked card layout for phones, row and column virtualization, inline and in-cell editing and CSV, Excel and PDF export. Tree data lives in the separate TreeList. All Kendo UI for Angular components require a paid license.
Choose it if you need the full feature set and can budget $799 or more per developer per year.
PrimeNG Table
PrimeNG Table 22.1.4 covers nearly as much: Ctrl/Cmd-click multi-sort, row or menu filters with match modes, a global filter, lazy mode for server data, single, radio and checkbox selection, row expansion, frozen and resizable columns, virtual scrolling with 10,000 records, cell and row editing and CSV export. Hierarchical data needs the separate TreeTable, and the v22 migration notes say the stacked responsive mode now needs a custom implementation.
Choose it if you want a near-complete table and the PrimeUI License works for your company.
ngx-datatable
ngx-datatable is maintained in two lines: @siemens/ngx-datatable 27.1.0 (September 22, 2026), the fork we rated, and @swimlane/ngx-datatable 25.1.0 (August 10, 2026). Both are MIT. You get multi-sort, client and external paging and sorting, single and checkbox selection, row details, tree rows, frozen columns on either side, resizing and virtualization demonstrated with 100,000 rows. Its Features page says the authors kept features “strictly related to dealing with the data rather than implementing complex filtering”, so filtering and editing are recipes you copy.
Choose it if you want a free grid-like table and can build your own filter UI.
NG-ZORRO Table
NG-ZORRO Table 22.1.2 (MIT) has filter menus, multi-column sorting through nzSortPriority, front-end or server pagination with nzQueryParams, expandable rows, a fixed header, pinned columns with nzLeft and nzRight, column customization and virtual scrolling. Selection, tree data and editing are building blocks and demos: you wire the state yourself. Column resizing uses the experimental nz-resizable directive.
Choose it if you want a capable free table and the Ant Design look.
Angular Material Table
Angular Material Table 22.2.4 (MIT) renders a native table with sorting, MatTableDataSource filtering across all columns, a separate paginator, sticky headers and sticky columns, and virtual scrolling with CDK. The docs state that “Angular Material does not provide a specific component to be used for filtering the MatTable”, and selection is a recipe with SelectionModel. Column resizing and popover editing exist only in the experimental package.
Choose it if you want free primitives in Material style and plan to write the data logic.
Taiga UI Table
Taiga UI Table 5.30.0 (Apache-2.0) offers sorting per column, a filter mechanism you attach to your own controls, pagination events, checkbox selection with select all, expandable rows, sticky headers and columns, resizing and a column reorder component. Virtual scrolling is an example built with Angular CDK.
Choose it if your app already uses Taiga UI.
Spartan/ng Data Table
Spartan/ng Data Table is a guide, not a component: you copy code built on TanStack Table v9 that shows sorting, filtering one column, pagination, row selection and column visibility. Everything else is TanStack logic you wire up yourself.
Choose it if you want full control over the markup in a Tailwind app.
CoreUI Smart Table
Our own entry. CoreUI Smart Table is part of CoreUI PRO (@coreui/angular-pro 5.7.39): $127 per developer, perpetual, 12 months of updates, renewal at the same price. The free @coreui/angular only has the styled cTable. Smart Table is the weakest ready-made table in this comparison. It does well on a column filter row, a global search box, custom sort and filter functions, pagination with page sizes, checkbox selection with select all, cell templates and a loading state. External sorting, filtering and paging emit events to your backend, but the built-in pagination computes pages itself, so server totals need a separate pagination component.
What it does not have: multi-column sorting (the React version has it), a sticky header, pinned or resizable columns, tree rows, virtualization, inline editing and export.
For those needs we sell a separate product, CoreUI Data Grid for Angular ($217 per developer, perpetual, version 0.4.0): multi-column sorting, column filters with operators, a global filter, a server data provider, pinned, resizable and hideable columns, row virtualization on by default, inline editing with validation and undo, and CSV and Excel export. One license covers Angular, React, Vue and JavaScript. Row details and tree data are on its roadmap, not shipped.
Choose it if you build on CoreUI and need a filterable, paged list; choose CoreUI Data Grid for anything grid-like.
Also considered
ng-bootstrap 21.0.0 has a Table page with recipes for sorting, search and pagination, and states: “At the moment we do not have plans to provide a dedicated component like NgbTable or NgbGrid as a part of ng-bootstrap project.”
What changed in 2026
- PrimeNG 22 moved to the PrimeUI License (22.0.0-rc.1, June 28, 2026). The free Community License covers organizations under $1M revenue with fewer than 5 developers; the commercial license is $599 per developer until December 31, 2026, then $799. PrimeNG 21.1.10 (
v21-stable, September 9, 2026) is the last MIT release. - ngx-datatable is maintained. Siemens develops new features in its fork (27.1.0, September 2026), and the original swimlane package released 25.1.0 in August 2026.
- Kendo UI for Angular has no free components; subscriptions are $799 to $1,299 per developer per year.
- Spartan/ng reached 1.0 on June 24, 2026; its Data Table guide uses TanStack Table v9.
FAQ
What is the best free Angular data table?
ngx-datatable if you need tree rows, pinned and resizable columns and virtualization; NG-ZORRO Table if you need built-in filter menus and multi-sort. Both are MIT.
