Best Vue Date Pickers in 2026: 8 Libraries Compared
Short answer. Choose @vuepic/vue-datepicker if you want the most complete free standalone picker: ranges, presets, multiple dates, time, all four period modes and IANA time zones in one MIT component. Choose Element Plus if you already use it: one ElDatePicker covers date, month, quarter and year ranges, shortcuts and multiple dates. Choose Vuetify if you are on Vuetify 4 and want the date field to share validation and theming with every other input. Choose PrimeVue only after reading its new license: the picker is strong, but PrimeVue 5 is no longer MIT. Choose CoreUI PRO if your Vue app is built on Bootstrap or CoreUI and you want a separate range picker with presets, quarter selection, validation feedback and documented RTL next to the rest of your components.
How we compared
We compared 8 Vue 3 date picker libraries in October 2026, using each vendor’s documentation, API files and npm package (versions in the table). Every cell has a source URL and a verification date in our research base. A ❌ means the gap is confirmed: the vendor’s documentation says so, or we tried it in the official public demo in a headless browser on October 28, 2026. When the documentation is silent, or the absence only shows up in API files or type definitions, we write — (no data) instead of ❌. CoreUI publishes this page; its own gaps are marked ❌ from its complete API reference.

The libraries, one by one
@vuepic/vue-datepicker
@vuepic/vue-datepicker 14.0.0 (MIT, Vue 3.5 and later) is the most feature-complete free Vue picker we checked. One component covers range (with minimum and maximum length, fixed start or end and auto range), preset-dates, multi-dates, built-in time selection, month, year, week and quarter pickers, multi-calendars, week-numbers, week-start, date-fns locales and a timezone prop backed by @date-fns/tz. Typing a date is opt-in through text-input. RTL is not documented, and validation is a visual state plus events, without message text.
Choose it if you need a standalone picker and do not use a UI framework.
Element Plus DatePicker
Element Plus 2.14.7 (MIT) handles dates through one ElDatePicker with a type prop: date, dates (multiple), week, month, quarter (since 2.14.5), year, datetime, and range versions of date, month, year, quarter and datetime. shortcuts work for single values and ranges, show-week-number adds week numbers, and the default slot renders custom cells. Typing a date worked in our demo test. You limit the selectable range with the disabled-date function, the error state comes from ElFormItem, and the first day of the week follows the locale.
Choose it if your app is on Element Plus.
Vuetify VDatePicker and VDateInput
Vuetify 4.3.1 (MIT) splits the job between VDatePicker (the calendar) and VDateInput, a text field with the picker in a menu, input-format for typing, Cancel and OK actions and the usual rules validation. Ranges use multiple="range"; a separate VDateRangePicker with two months side by side exists but is still in Labs in 4.3.1, as is VMonthPicker. Week numbers (show-week), allowed-dates, first-day-of-week and RTL are built in. Time is a separate VTimePicker you place next to it.
Choose it if you build on Vuetify and want dates to behave like every other field.
PrimeVue DatePicker
PrimeVue 5.0.4 covers the essentials well: selectionMode single, multiple (maxDateCount) or range, showTime with seconds and 12/24-hour format, month and year views, numberOfMonths, showWeek, a Today and Clear button bar, an inline mode, and a date slot for custom cells. The first day of the week lives in the global locale. The open question is licensing (next section). The last MIT release is 4.5.5 on the v4-stable tag.
Choose it if your organization qualifies for the Community License or already licenses PrimeUI.
Quasar QDate
Quasar 2.35.2 (MIT) provides QDate, a calendar without an input field. The docs show how to pair it with QInput (mask="date") and QPopupProxy, which switches between a menu on large screens and a dialog on small ones. QDate supports range, multiple and both together for several ranges, options for disabled dates, a Persian calendar, and first-day-of-week. Time lives in a separate QTime component that the docs combine on one model.
Choose it if you build with Quasar and are happy to compose the field.
Naive UI NDatePicker
Naive UI 2.45.3 (MIT) has a compact NDatePicker: type covers date, datetime, week, month, quarter and year plus their ranges, with shortcuts, actions (clear, now, confirm), first-day-of-week and a status prop for validation. Typing a date worked in our test.
Choose it if you already use Naive UI.
Ant Design Vue DatePicker
Ant Design Vue 4.2.6 (MIT) offers DatePicker and a separate RangePicker with presets, showTime, week, month, quarter and year pickers, a status prop and RTL through ConfigProvider. Typing a date works. One caution: version 4.2.6, released on November 11, 2024, is still the latest, so check the Vue changelog before relying on something you saw in the React antd docs.
Choose it if you maintain an existing Ant Design Vue app.
CoreUI Date Picker and Date Range Picker for Vue
Our own entry. The CoreUI Vue Date Picker and Date Range Picker (@coreui/vue-pro 5.22.2) are CoreUI PRO components: $127 per developer, perpetual, 12 months of updates, renewal at the same price.
Be clear about the comparison: @vuepic/vue-datepicker gives you the same breadth for free and adds multiple dates and time zones. What CoreUI adds is a separate CDateRangePicker with ranges presets and a calendars prop, selectionType for day, week, month, quarter or year values in both pickers, timepicker in the same popup, Today, Clear, Confirm and Cancel buttons, valid and invalid states with feedback messages, firstDayOfWeek, Intl-based locale, and a documented RTL section with Hebrew and Persian examples. Typing a date worked in our demo test, and the pickers share Bootstrap styling with the other CoreUI form controls. For an embedded calendar there is the separate CCalendar component (also PRO), with day to year selection, multiple panels, ranges, RTL and scoped slots for custom cells.
Where CoreUI loses: no multiple-date mode, no time zone prop and no segmented field.
Choose it if your Vue app already uses CoreUI or Bootstrap and you need ranges with presets and quarter selection inside consistent, validated forms. Team prices are on the pricing page.
Licensing in 2026: what changed
PrimeVue is no longer MIT. Since 5.0.0 (July 15, 2026), primevue is distributed as a compiled package under the PrimeUI License, which requires a license key. The free Community License applies only to organizations that meet all of these conditions: fewer than 5 developers, fewer than 10 employees, under $1M revenue, under $3M in outside funding, and not in the public sector or education; it renews yearly. The commercial license is $599 per developer until December 31, 2026 (regular price $799), perpetual with one year of updates, and $399 per developer to renew updates; it covers PrimeVue, PrimeReact and PrimeNG. PrimeTek lists PrimeVue 4 as the last MIT-licensed version.
Every other free library on this page (vuepic, Element Plus, Vuetify, Quasar, Naive UI, Ant Design Vue) is MIT-licensed, date pickers included.
FAQ
What is the best free Vue 3 date picker?
@vuepic/vue-datepicker 14 is the most complete free standalone option: ranges, presets, multiple dates, time, week, month, quarter and year pickers, and time zones. If you already use Element Plus or Vuetify, their built-in pickers are the better fit.
Which Vue date picker supports date ranges for free?
@vuepic/vue-datepicker (range), Element Plus (type="daterange", also month, quarter and year ranges), Vuetify (multiple="range"), Quasar (range), Naive UI (type="daterange") and Ant Design Vue (RangePicker) are all MIT. PrimeVue 5 needs a PrimeUI license above the size limits, and CoreUI’s Date Range Picker is part of CoreUI PRO.
Does Vuetify 4 have a date range picker?
Yes. VDatePicker and VDateInput support multiple="range" in the stable release. A separate VDateRangePicker with two months side by side exists since 4.1.0, but in 4.3.1 it is still imported from vuetify/labs.
Which Vue date picker supports time zones?
@vuepic/vue-datepicker documents a timezone prop with IANA zones through @date-fns/tz. CoreUI has no time zone prop; its values are native Date objects in the browser’s zone.
Is PrimeVue still free?
PrimeVue 5 is free only under the PrimeUI Community License limits. Larger teams need a commercial license from $599 per developer, or can stay on the MIT-licensed PrimeVue 4.
