CoreUI PRO v6.0.0-alpha.0 - First v6 Alpha

CoreUI PRO v6.0.0-alpha.0 - First v6 Alpha

We are pleased to announce CoreUI PRO v6.0.0-alpha.0 for Bootstrap, the first alpha of v6. The JavaScript is now written in TypeScript and ships its own type declarations, positioned components move from Popper to Floating UI, one stylesheet serves both text directions, and dist/css gains a stylesheet per component. The API can still change before the release candidate, so pin the exact version and do not use it in production yet. The v6 documentation is published next to the v5 docs.

Speed up your responsive apps and websites with fully-featured, ready-to-use open-source admin panel templates—free to use and built for efficiency.

How to Update

v6 is published under the next tag, so npm install @coreui/coreui-pro keeps installing v5. To try the alpha:

  1. Install the exact version:
  2. Replace @popperjs/core with @floating-ui/dom in your dependencies (see Migration Notes).
  3. Go through the v6 migration guide before you upgrade a v5 project.

You can also download the latest PRO packages from CoreUI Downloads.

What’s New

Highlights

  • TypeScript: the JavaScript is written in TypeScript and the package ships its own type declarations.
  • Floating UI: @floating-ui/dom replaces @popperjs/core for every positioned component. The popperConfig option is now floatingConfig.
  • One stylesheet for both directions: the *.rtl.css builds are gone. dir="rtl" on <html> is enough.
  • Per-component CSS: dist/css adds base.css and one stylesheet per component, with a manifest.json that gives their load order.
  • Legacy class names: deprecated v5 class names moved out of coreui.css into coreui-legacy.css.
  • Sass architecture: the Sass follows the Bootstrap v6 architecture, with cascade layers, a token map per component, theme slots and colours computed in the browser.

Removed

  • The Bootstrap theme and the bootstrap*.js builds are no longer shipped.

Dependency Updates

  • @floating-ui/dom ^1.8.0 is the peer dependency, in place of @popperjs/core.

Migration Notes

v6 is a major release with breaking changes. The most common steps when moving a v5 project:

  1. Popper to Floating UI. Replace @popperjs/core with @floating-ui/dom, and rename popperConfig to floatingConfig in tooltip, popover and dropdown options.
  2. RTL builds. Link coreui.min.css instead of coreui.rtl.min.css and keep dir="rtl" on <html>.
  3. v5 class names. If your markup still uses deprecated v5 class names, load coreui-legacy.css after coreui.css.
  4. Bootstrap theme. Load coreui.min.css and coreui.bundle.min.js (or coreui.min.js) instead of the Bootstrap theme files.
  5. Browser support. The minimum browsers are Chrome 123, Edge 123, Firefox 130, Safari 18 and iOS 18. Stay on v5 if you need older ones.

The full list of breaking changes and what to change is in the v6 migration guide.
