CoreUI for Angular v5.7.24 - Modal and Offcanvas Backdrop Fix

CoreUI for Angular v5.7.24 - Modal and Offcanvas Backdrop Fix

We are pleased to announce the release of CoreUI for Angular v5.7.24. This maintenance release fixes the backdrop shared by the Modal and Offcanvas components, so a backdrop opened while the previous one is still fading out no longer stacks on top of it. The release is built for Angular 22.1.4. No breaking changes were announced in the published release notes.

Speed up your responsive apps and websites with fully-featured, ready-to-use open-source admin panel templates—free to use and built for efficiency.

How to Update

To update to CoreUI for Angular v5.7.24, run:

ng update @angular/core@22 @angular/cli@22 @coreui/coreui@~5.9.0 @coreui/angular@~5.7.24

What’s New

Bug Fixes

  • Backdrop: A closing backdrop is removed 300 ms later, after its fade-out. A backdrop opened within that window - for example when one modal closes and the next one opens right away - used to sit on top of the outgoing one until the old timer fired. Opening a new backdrop now removes the outgoing one immediately. The fix applies to both the Modal and the Offcanvas, which share BackdropService.
  • Backdrop: BackdropService.activeBackdrop is now released once the backdrop’s cleanup runs, instead of keeping a reference to the removed element.

Internal Improvements

  • Offcanvas tests: The offcanvas is now hidden before real timers are restored, so the backdrop cleanup can no longer clear the body overflow in a later test.
  • Backdrop tests: Added coverage for releasing the active backdrop after it is cleared and for a backdrop replaced during the fade-out.

Dependency Updates

We have updated key dependencies to their latest compatible versions for CoreUI for Angular v5.7.24:

Development Tools

  • angular-eslint to: 22.2.0

Migration Notes

This is a maintenance release with no breaking changes announced in the published release notes. After upgrading:

  1. Install updated dependencies.
  2. Run your test suite and verify the build.
  3. If your application switches between modals or offcanvases in quick succession, check that only one backdrop is shown.
