CoreUI PRO v5.29.0 - External Search in the Multi Select

CoreUI PRO v5.29.0 - External Search in the Multi Select

We are pleased to announce the release of CoreUI PRO v5.29.0 for Bootstrap. The Multi Select gains external search: the component stops filtering its own list and lets your code fetch matching options from a server or an API, the same way the Autocomplete already does. The release also fixes the Autocomplete external data example.

Speed up your responsive apps and websites with fully-featured, ready-to-use open-source admin panel templates—free to use and built for efficiency.

What’s New

Features

  • Multi Select external search: Set search to 'external' (or ['external', 'global'] to keep global search) and the component no longer filters the options itself. The search.coreui.multi-select event now carries the typed text as event.value, so you can fetch matching options and pass them in with update({ options }).
  • Options update in place: In external search mode, update({ options }) replaces only the list. The dropdown stays open, the search field keeps its text and focus, and options selected from earlier results stay selected, keep their tags and are still submitted with the form. Options flagged as selected in the new results are selected, and earlier selections count toward selectionLimit.
  • Select all: In external search mode the select all button selects and deselects only the loaded results. deselectAll() and the cleaner clear the whole selection.

Documentation

  • Multi Select: New External search section with a live example that searches a demo users API.
  • Autocomplete: The external data example encodes the query, so a search containing & or # no longer breaks the request, and ignores responses that arrive after a newer query.

Dependency Updates

  • No dependency changes in this release.

Migration Notes

This release has no breaking changes to the public API. One behavior change is worth checking:

  1. deselectAll() in the Multi Select now works on the current selection instead of the whole options list. The end state is the same, but changed.coreui.multi-select fires once per selected option instead of once per option. If you count those events, expect fewer of them.
